Welcome to our special series, Family Trips Worldwide. In this series we post short facts about a cool place from various parts of the world that is great for a family trip. This time we present you the short hike to an old ruined scottish manse on the Isle of Skye.

WHAT: an old ruined scottish clergy house (manse) on the Isle of Skye.

WHERE: Scotland, the island of Skye. 57°12’31.46″N  5°56’58.06″W

HOW TO GET THERE: On A87, the main road on Isle of Skye in the town of Broadford turn left to the road B8083 at the sign for Ealaghol and Elgol. Halfway between Broadford and Elgol there’s a small lake Loch Chill Chriosd. Right before the lake you will see an old ruined church with cemetery. Continue to the lake and on your left you will see small passing places. You can park your car by one of them on the grass. From there find a small path by the fence of the only house there and follow the path. When you will come on the top of the small hill, continue to the left. Soon you will see the old house.

WHEN: all year round.

WHAT TO DO: take the easy hike trough the grass to the ruined old manse (clergy house). There you can chill out and absorb the rough beauty of the landscape with the two peaks in the background.

TIPS: bring rain and windproof jacket, because the scottish weater can be very unpredictable.
