Welcome to our special series, Family Trips Worldwide. In this series we post short facts about a cool place from various parts of the world that is great for a family trip. This time we will describe you an easy hiking trip to the lake Lac de Souliers in French Alps.
WHAT: a hike to the mountain lake Lac de Souliers in French Alps on 2492 m altitude.
WHERE: France, the Queyras, near the Col d’Izoard pass. 44°48’25.40″N, 6°45’23.66″E
HOW TO GET THERE: The easiest road access is by taking the D 902 to the Parking des Casse Déserte (Queyras) and can be done from Arvieux, Château-Queyras, Guillestre, Briançon or Gap. The start of the trail leading to the Lac de Souliers is just opposite from the Parking des Casse Déserte on the D 902.
WHEN: from late spring to autumn.
WHAT TO DO: take the easy hike to the lake and enjoy in amazing vistas once you get there.
TIPS: the hike is great for families as it takes just 45 min to get to the lake. If you start walking in the afternoon, you will escape the majority of hikers and will probably be alone at the top.
