WHAT: an old fishing port with piers and cabins for fishermen made of wood.

WHERE: Portugal, Carrasqueira village, near the town of Comporta.    38°24’45.87″N    8°45’24.64″W

HOW TO GET THERE: South from Lisbon on A2 take the exit Alcacer do Sal, then proceed approx. 30 km (18 miles) west to Comporta. In Comporta take the R. de las Palmeiras and continue for approx. 3 km (1.8 miles) to the village of Carrasqueira. There proceed on the same road until you reach a T crossroad and a stop sign – then turn left and continue on this road straight until you reach the sea.

WHEN: all year round, but the most pleasant time is spring or autumn.

WHAT TO DO: take your time and watch the local fishermen coming back with their daily catch. Enjoy in the magical atmosphere at sunset.

TIPS: stay there for dawn, at that time the place is like from another world. But be prepared for a lot of mosquitoes.X3A5080
