Welcome to our special series, Family Trips Worldwide. In this series we post short facts about a cool place from various parts of the world that is great for a family trip. This time we present you the hike to a viewpoint above Baška.

WHAT: Hlam, a hill with a stunning view that rises above the little coastal town of Baška.

WHERE: Croatia, the island of Krk.   44°58’50.53″N   14°45’5.01″E

HOW TO GET THERE: In town of Baška you take the road towards Sv. Ivan church. You can park your car at the parking in front of the church and start walking on the gravel road. The path leads trough woods and once you get to the end of the woods there will be a table with each peak marked with it’s own color. Follow the signs in the color that marks Hlam and 20 minutes later you will reach the top.

WHEN: all year round, but keep in mind that in summer it can get extremely hot once you get out of the woods.

WHAT TO DO: enjoy the silence and stunning views over Baška, mainland and some other islands.

TIPS: be sure to wear good hiking boots, long trousers and bring hiking sticks – on a warm sunny day you might encounter a snake.
